The route runs through the central districts of the Azerbaijani capital, connecting the high-speed streets of Baku and the Old City. The total length of the city circuit is 6.003 km and includes 20 turns, making this section of the track a serious challenge for drivers.
The technical characteristics of the Baku Circuit set it apart from other race tracks worldwide. The track's width reaches thirteen meters in wide sections, but narrows to 6.6 meters near the fortress walls. These tight turns require Formula 1 drivers to exercise pinpoint precision. The longest section of the circuit runs along the seaside boulevard, where the cars achieve their fastest speeds. Formula 1 races in Azerbaijan traditionally attract thousands of fans to the stands.
Baku Race Overview and Grandstands
Several spectator areas at the Baku City Circuit offer views of key stages. The Absheron Grandstand is located opposite the pit lane, allowing for a clear view of the race start and the teams' work. The Icheri Sheher sector is located where the city circuit curves around the historic part of the city. Spectators in this grandstand can watch the cars navigate the challenging turns near the Old Town.
The Azneft and Mugham Grandstands allow for close-up views of the high-speed sections, while the Sahil and Boulevard sectors offer panoramic views of the long straights along the Caspian Sea. Opposite the Maiden Tower, you'll find a space where modern motorsport technology meets Azerbaijan's architectural heritage.
