Azerbaijan Grand Prix: Feel the speed and adrenaline at the Baku City Circuit
Baku City Circuit Located in the heart of Azerbaijan's capital, Baku, is one of the most exciting Formula 1 circuits. Since its debut in 2016, when it hosted the European Grand Prix, the circuit has captured the attention of motorsports fans from around the world. Since 2017, the race has been held under the name of the Azerbaijan Grand Prix and continues to impress with its unique characteristics.
The 6.003 km long track includes 20 turns, 8 of which are 90-degree. It is famous for its long straights, including the longest straight in the Formula 1 calendar at 2.2 km along the Caspian Sea. The maximum speed on the track reaches an impressive 370 km/h.
The "castle section" with turns 8-9-10 deserves special attention, passing which requires pinpoint accuracy from the drivers. The narrow streets of the Old City (Icheri Sheher) add technical complexity to the track and make it one of the most difficult to navigate.
An important feature of the Baku City Circuit is the counter-clockwise movement and the presence of sections where the cars go in opposite directions. To ensure safety, a special concrete partition is used.
